Palm City Vacation -- March 2004
Back Home
We're grateful to my older brother Jim for the use of his home in Palm City, Florida from Monday to Friday, the 8th through the 12th of March, 2004. Palm City is next door to Stuart and the ocean. The drive back was grueling, especially through Jacksonville! We also made a short diversion in Daytona for a snack and a look at the huge race track.
The trip down wasn't too bad, 6 and a half hours, pretty much non-stop at 70 MPH. His directions from the Turnpike to the house were spot on. Too bad we didn't re-read them thoroughly on the way down, especially from the Turnpike exit to the entrance to Martin Downs Country Club. We relied on the Mapquest instructions and their use of the term "merge," and coupled with 2 different uses of SR714 signs, we got off track, but only for a couple miles and 10 minutes.
We visited Jensen Beach on Hutchinson Island and the surrounding area on Tuesday. The temps weren't hot enough to get in the water but were perfect for laying on the sand. The whole area is quite picturesque. This first page shows the house the afternoon we arrived and the next morning.
